Project title:
Construction of a modern cycle parking facility with secure charging and locking facilities at [Name of town] railway station
Project description:
The project aims to significantly improve the cycling infrastructure in the immediate vicinity of [Name, stop] railway station. The plan is to install a covered and illuminated bicycle parking facility (LiON Stand) in combination with a centralised locking system (LiON Box X). The lockers are fitted with standardised 230 V sockets, as specified in the local authority guidelines. This allows cycling accessories (e.g. helmets, rainwear, batteries) to be stored securely and chargers to be connected when required.
Implementation shall take place in accordance with DIN 79008-1 as well as the FGSV guidelines on cycle parking. The systems used are vandal-proof, fire-resistant and designed for easy use with a variety of bicycle types, including e-bikes.
Energy supply:
A stand-alone PV system with storage (LiON Solar Kit) is planned to provide lighting and power the access system. This ensures a self-sufficient power supply for the cycle park, in line with the eligible measures under the Bike+Ride initiative.
Aims of the project:
Enhancing the appeal of the station area by providing convenient and secure bicycle parking facilities.
Improving intermodal connections between cycling and public transport.
Promoting sustainable mobility and reducing the proportion of private cars used for commuting.
Provision of secure lockers with standardised charging points for cyclists.
Eligibility:
The proposed measure comprises only eligible components in accordance with section 4.2.5c of the Local Authority Guidelines:
Bicycle parking facilities with bike racks,
Canopy including lighting,
Centralised locking system for 10 or more locations,
Lockers with standard sockets (230 V),
Off-grid solar PV system with storage to power the building services.
All measures will be implemented within a 100-metre radius of the station and will be earmarked for this purpose for at least five years.
