ONgineer At the 2026 German Public Transit Conference: Micromobility and the Last Mile

On June 24, 2026, Claus-Martin Mündel, Managing Director of ONgineer GmbH, will speak at the 16th German Public Transit Day in Koblenz.
His topic: How charging infrastructure for e-bikes and e-scooters can structurally strengthen public transit.

Why the Last Mile Matters

Many people would switch to buses and trains more often—if getting to the station were easier. The “last mile”—often one to five kilometers—remains an unresolved issue in many regions today. The lack of parking facilities and charging stations for e-bikes and e-scooters are not peripheral issues, but rather key factors affecting acceptance.

According to the ADFC, there will be 15.7 million e-bikes in Germany by 2025. According to Destatis, private e-scooters will be used by 1.4 million households by 2025. These vehicles have long been part of everyday life for many commuters. Where they cannot be parked and charged safely, the car remains the first choice.

LiON Tree: Ready for immediate use, no civil engineering required

ONgineer With the LiON Tree, the company presents a solution that municipalities and public transit agencies can implement without any construction work. The station is powered entirely by solar energy and a storage system, requires no foundation, and can be set up flexibly. Users can charge their e-bikes or e-scooters directly—without their own chargers or cables.

Real-World Reference Projects
