LiON Rack: From a portable solar station to a permanent charging infrastructure

ONgineer is expanding its portfolio of self-sufficient micromobility solutions:

ONgineer is adding a fixed version to the LiON Rack range. The self-contained solar charging and parking system is now available in two versions: a mobile version requiring no foundation, or a fixed version designed to be bolted onto an existing or site-built foundation.

The LiON Rack from ONgineer was designed from the outset as a mobile, off-grid charging solution for e-bikes and e-scooters. With the new fixed version, ONgineer is now expanding the system to include a variant for locations where a permanent installation is required. Both versions are self-sufficient, solar-powered and require no additional mains connection.

Two versions
The LiON Rack is now available in two versions:

LiON Rack – portable version (with ballast option):

The system is designed for temporary and flexible locations. The integrated system boxes are filled with ballast, ensuring stability without the need for foundations or structural work.
The weighted seating units also enhance the quality of the space at the site. A single module is transportable, fits into a standard Sprinter or Transporter van, and can be stored away seasonally or reassembled at other locations as required.

LiON Rack – fixed version (dowel-mounted):
This new version is designed for sites with a long-term requirement.
Installation is carried out by anchoring the structure to an existing foundation or one constructed on site. This ensures that the installation remains straightforward to plan and cost-effective, without the need for complex civil engineering works or additional earthworks.

Technology and Design
Both versions use the same core technology:
Integrated photovoltaic modules generate the charging current, whilst a battery storage system ensures a continuous supply even in the evening hours
as well as in cloudy weather. This enables the device to operate completely off-grid, eliminating the need for an external power supply.

Areas of application
The linear design of the LiON Rack is particularly well suited to long or narrow areas along buildings, footpaths and parking zones. Typical locations include business premises and industrial estates, local authority spaces, transport hubs, areas around railway stations, retail locations, as well as temporary events such as festivals, Christmas markets or seasonal projects.
