FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

E-bike charging points for retailers

Answers to frequently asked questions about charging points at supermarkets, specialist shops, shopping centres and other retail locations.

Which e-bike charging station is suitable for a retail location?

This depends primarily on the available space, the power supply and the desired number of charging points. The LiON Box X is suitable, for example, for existing cycle parking spaces, building walls or customer car parks. Combined with the LiON Stand, this creates a compact charging and parking solution. For linear areas and parking bays, the LiON Rack with integrated solar power supply is ideal.

Do customers need to bring their own e-bike charger?

No. With ONgineer’s direct-charging technology, the e-bike is connected directly to the appropriate socket at the charging point. There is no need to bring a separate charger with you.

Which e-bikes can be charged using a LiON Box X?

The two direct charging points on the LiON Box X are each fitted with a LiON splitter featuring three charging plugs. This means that the project covers around 95 per cent of the common e-bike and e-scooter systems in the D-A-CH region. Depending on the model, a 230 V socket is also available for models not directly supported.

Can an existing cycle parking facility be upgraded?

Yes, provided the structural requirements at the site are met. The LiON Box X can be wall-mounted or integrated into existing parking facilities. Alternatively, ONgineer stand systems are available, which allow charging and parking to be planned together.

Can existing parking bays be used as e-bike charging points?

The LiON Rack is specifically designed for such areas. Thanks to its linear design, it can be installed along parking bays or other narrow spaces. Each rack offers four direct charging points and six parking spaces, and is powered by integrated photovoltaic panels and battery storage.

Can the charging infrastructure be adapted to our corporate design?

Yes. The LiON Box X can be customised and, for example, adapted to a company’s colours and corporate design guidelines. The LiON Rack also offers larger customisable areas for branding, location information or your own communications content.

How do e-bike riders find the charging point at our site?

Publicly accessible ONgineer charging points can be listed free of charge in the E-Station app. E-bike riders can find the charging point there and factor it into their route planning.

Can a bicycle repair service also be offered?

Yes. The LiON FixAir adds a repair station to the charging area, complete with an integrated pump and tools. This enables customers to carry out minor repairs on bicycles, e-bikes or scooters right there on site .
