What should you know before starting your project? Here we answer the most important questions about planning your e-bike charging infrastructure.

Do I need to know in advance which charging point I need?

No. To begin with, the most important factors are your location, the intended use and the desired number of charging points. On this basis, it is possible to determine which charging systems are suitable.

Our Planning checklist (PDF) helps you prepare.

How many e-bike charging points should I plan for?

Key factors include the number of e-bikes being charged at the same time, the frequency of use and the average duration of stay. Any potential changes in charging requirements should also be taken into account during the planning stage.

Make the most of our interactive charging point finder to give you a general idea.

Are there charging solutions for locations without an electricity supply?

Yes. As well as mains-connected charging stations, ONgineer also offers off-grid solar systems. For example, the LiON Rack and LiON Tree combine photovoltaic panels with a battery storage system. They do not require a mains connection at the installation site.

Which solution is suitable depends , amongst other things, on the available space, the site conditions and the charging requirements.

Which e-bike batteries can be charged directly?

ONgineer’s direct-charging technology enables compatible e-bike batteries to be charged without bringing your own charger. Compatibility depends on the specific battery system and the appropriate LiON splitter.

You can find an overview of the available connections in our LiON Splitter List (PDF) .

What do I need to bear in mind during installation and assembly?

The requirements depend on the chosen system and the conditions at the site. For grid-connected solutions, a suitable power supply and the necessary installation conditions must be in place.

Any necessary electrical work must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Even in the case of self-contained systems, the relevant installation and setup specifications must be observed.

Can I expand my charging infrastructure at a later date?

Depending on the system chosen and the site-specific requirements, additional charging points or further charging stations can be included in the plans.

If you anticipate an increase in charging demand, we recommend that you take potential future expansions into account as early as the initial site planning stage.

Are there any grants available for e-bike charging infrastructure?

Whether your project is eligible for funding depends on the specific programme, your location and the specific funding conditions. Availability and eligibility criteria are subject to change.

On our Funding page You will find further sources of information for your own research.
