New investor for ONgineer GmbH

KINZIG.VALLEY Venture GmbH has joined ONgineer GmbH as a new investor. After the latest financing round of ONgineer Claus Mündel (CEO) is pleased to welcome KINZIG.VALLEY Venture represented by Managing Directors Oliver and Jens Naumann as new shareholders.

KINZIG.VALLEY Venture GmbH is a promoter of innovative and sustainable ideas and is very excited to partner with ONgineer GmbH. The names KINZIG.VALLEY Venture and ONgineer stand for creating and growing a vision together in mutual appreciation.

ONgineer, a  former power electronics design house, plans to conquer the market of charging infrastructure for e-bikes and scooters with its new business unit  ONmobility. Through patented highly efficient and inductive charging technologies Made in Germany, ONgineer wants to revolutionize the market to make it more sustainable, safer and significantly more user-friendly.

The solutions range from a universal wallbox for e-bikes, called LiON Box, to a self-sufficient, securely locking and inductively charging platform for urban micro-mobility, called Simple2juice. In order to finance the marketing and further development of the new business field, ONgineer has now successfully concluded a first round of financing.

Some cities and municipalities have already requested pilot projects to meet the challenges of the scooter and bike rental fleets spread all over the cities. ONgineer CEO Claus Mündel welcomes the fact that the capital is now available to pre-finance the first projects.

Zeus and Ongineer now a milestone for the sustainable and safe operation of e-scooter sharing fleets

In order to promote e-scooter sharing as an important component of urban mobility in the long term, new innovative approaches are needed.
The needs of all road users, cities, users and providers as well as the protection of the environment have to be reconciled in a meaningful way.
With a comprehensive solution based on state-of-the-art technologies, Zeus and Ongineer are now setting a milestone
for the sustainable and safe operation of e-scooter sharing fleets.

In close cooperation with the city of Würzburg, the two companies have launched the world’s first wireless charging station, at which e-scooters can be safely parked, charged and automatically locked at the nearest station when the journey is complete.
A patented process supports so-called free-floating and thus continues to ensure the best possible flexibility for users – but also that orderly and conflict-free use of e-scooters in cities is possible again.

Areas of a city that are restricted in use, e.g. near bodies of water, can thus be released again – or do not have to be set up at all. The resources, costs and efforts for charging and collecting the scooters or replacing the batteries can be significantly reduced. Intelligent management of the vehicles enables the use of smaller batteries.

In Würzburg, the photovoltaic system of ‚litTrees‘ supplies the e-scooters in Würzburg autonomously with electricity
and thus makes an important contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.

Politics meets HighTech

As part of the annual visit by the main committee of the town of Espelkamp to a company based in Espelkamp, ONgineer GmbH on the Hindenburgring was chosen this year.

Mayor Dr. Henning Vieker came with the town’s main committee and state and local politician Daniela Beihl in mid-September to get an idea of what „ONgineers“ does. During a tour of the company’s headquarters, Managing Director Claus-Martin Mündel explained the latest developments, products and services that ONgineer (formerly part of HÜCO electronic – a Harting spin-off) has launched.

ONgineer has also had to cope with the upheavals caused by the recent crises and there have been and still are extreme challenges, especially in the area of supply chains. Long-term planning is difficult in such turbulent times – what is needed is flexibility and resourcefulness to turn every crisis into an opportunity. ONgineer has succeeded quite well in this by focusing on the micro-e-mobility market and conquering the market with universal wall boxes for e-bikes and inductive charging infrastructure for e-scooters.

Daniela Beihl was amazed at the high-tech enterprise that has emerged at ONgineer and asked the CEO how ONgineer defends itself against product piracy from the Far East. Claus-Martin Mündel, who himself worked in the chip industry for two decades, referred not only to the patents but also to the company’s own integrated chip, which is at the heart of the solution, contains the know-how and secures the lead by means of innovative encryption technology.

For a municipal charging infrastructure pilot project, the mayor directly offered practical support to realise this in Espelkamp.
